"Do one thing every day that frightens you." Eleanor Roosevelt

This is a major departure from my typical work...but I am loving every moment of creating. The Muse is here and seems to want to stay for a few days. I have decided to let her have her way with me!

My Cabinet of Curiosities shop has the most exotic images and I have had them in my dreams of late. I decided to mix some of my own photos, DaVinci sketches, Haeckel botanical images, Galelio sketches, and quotations to collage my way through the muses whisperings.

I am big on critique...I learn best from constructive criticism...hard to open up to that...but that is just me! I would love to hear what you think. Good and bad.

I have all these potential images swirling around in my head...so it is back to the digital sketchbook...this is so liberating and fun!

If you are adventurous...send me a challenge to come up with a
collage. I think if you click on these you can get a larger view...easier to read the quotations or my journaling.

Way Over Due in Acknowledgment of ....CIF Gift Received

Elsie sent this magnificent necklace and earring set in response to our Craft It Forward challenge. It is perfect and lovely and I adore it! I met Elsie when she wanted to trade for one of my necklaces. I was certainly up for a trade, her work is exquisite! We worked out a trade for a necklace very similar to this that I wanted to give my daughter-in-law for Christmas...that was in July of last year. Long time to hold on to a present for me...and the more I saw the necklace the more I treasured it. I toyed with the idea of keeping it...but it was so perfect for Jenny. It now resides in Oxford,England and looks ever so nice on Jenny!

Elsie and I have become long distance friends...which is so very much fun..and I told her about my hard decision! So when we did the CIF challenge...this was an absolutely perfect present for me! Thanks so much...!

I am still working on Elsie's CIF present...but I think it will please her every bit as much!

A Cabinet of Curiosities...

I recently opened a new Etsy shop. I am dedicating this shop to vintage botanical and animal illustrations...and art made from these images.

I am in awe of the work of Ernst Haeckel. Here is a detail of his Animal Print of Amphoridea. My mind is boggled at the potential for translating these images to what ever medium that I am working in. If I were into fashion and the bridal industry the amphoridea at top left would have to be incorporated as lace and pearls into a bridal cap and veil...or maybe the head dress of an Ice Princess?

Blows me away that these are sketches of living organisims. You will have to visit the shop to see just what I am talking about.

I wanted to thank Elsie at http://namaste-elsiee.blogspot.com/ for featuring one of my prints and bringing attention to the new shop. I will send one free digital image to anyone who blogs about these jawdropping images at my shop....acabinetofcuriosities.etsy.com. Just let me know about the blog and the image you choose for your time and effort to help me promote the shop.
