Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party

Tracy's Bell's beautiful offering! Yea for me!!

Welcome to Lori Anderson's  3rd Bead Soup Blog Party!
What is a Bead Soup Blog Party you ask?
Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following:
A focal
A special clasp (not just a lobster claw)
Some coordinating spacers or beads
Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not.

Here is my creation using this wonderful set of goodies from my Bead Soup Partner Tracy Bell!
Using a mixture of Tracy's generous lampwork and copper findings contribution, my little raku treasures, silk sari ribbon from LaShell of Designtalentedone.etsy.com, brass key and findings  this creation found it's way into existence:)  Tracy's beautiful copper clasp works wonderfully as a front closure for this statement necklace.

I have titled it "The Garden of Eden"...the Heavens are represented by Tracy's focal lampwork bead, also featured is one of my raku keyholes symbolizing  the Tree of Knowledge.  There is an antique brass key to unlock the secrets of the Tree of Knowledge. My raku serpant  overlooks the garden that is represented with a raku acorn and cap, Tracy's lampwork spirals  used as florals, and brass beetles and a raku rabbit charm round out the garden theme. The delicious sapphire silk sari ribbon pulls it all together:)

Thanks Lori for a great adventure...and a stretching of my creative wings:)

  14. Too funny, I read the comment about "baby snakes" and thought what? I didn't remember any snakes. Had to go back and look. My mind had translated them as vine tendrils.

Interesting how what we bring to a piece affects our interpretation. Thanks for sharing!

  40. Your keyhole focal is stunning. I love the earthy colors and textures. A piece like that makes me just want to reach out and touch it, which is something that I think sometimes gets lost in jewelry design. I like pieces with motion, weight, and a little swing to them and yours delivers 100%. Thanks for sharing and for your beautiful piece. I loved seeing it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love the key hole focal and the way you used the clasp, its truly a work of art!

  42. Funny... someone else's design in blues reminded me of Oberon from "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Yours here reminds me of Titania! It's big, bold, beautiful, and so natural looking! This is just a fantastic design; it's an art piece. I'm loving the fabric, and the way that the beads cascade down almost like a lush bunch of grapes. This would make anyone feel like a fairy queen wearing it. ;) Wonderful!
